MaineHealth is seeking a qualified and motivated professional to join its legal department as an Associate Corporate Counsel in Portland, Maine. This entry-level position is designed for a staff attorney who will assist the Associate General Counsel and other supervising attorneys in delivering comprehensive legal services across MaineHealth members and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will handle a diverse portfolio of corporate legal matters, with a strong focus on healthcare operations and employment law. Primary duties include:

  • Managing claims and active litigation.
  • Functioning as a subject matter expert in labor and employment law.
  • Performing in-depth legal research and analysis.
  • Reviewing, drafting, and editing contracts, agreements, policies, and institutional recommendations.
  • Providing regulatory and legal advice to managers throughout MaineHealth regarding patient care and healthcare operations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of a three-year post-Baccalaureate legal education program (Juris Doctor or equivalent).
  • Licensure: Must be actively licensed to practice law in the State of Maine and admitted to the Maine State Bar.
  • Skills: Proven ability to draft and edit complex contracts, legal documents, and corporate policies.
