GEICO is seeking an Associate Counsel to join its Staff Counsel team in Dallas, TX. The role involves defending lawsuits filed in Texas courts and handling other first-party insurance defense matters. This is a hybrid position that requires researching laws, preparing legal briefs, rendering opinions on liability and damages, and handling pleadings, motions, discovery, and trials. Key Responsibilities:

• Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value for the Claims Department.
• Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, discovery (including depositions and examinations under oath), and defending assigned matters at trial or dispositive hearings.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in Texas.
• 2-6+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury.
• Ability to travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, and meetings.
