About the Opportunity

Alliant Insurance Services is inviting applications for the position of Associate Counsel (Hybrid) based in Omaha, Nebraska. This full-time, mid-senior level role is designed for a legal professional who will work under the direct supervision of the Assistant General Counsel. The selected candidate will be responsible for advising Alliant’s corporate departments and business groups on a broad spectrum of legal matters, reviewing and negotiating contracts, and ensuring general corporate compliance.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Counsel will handle a diverse portfolio of legal tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Contract Management: Reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and advising on a wide range of agreements such as employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, vendor agreements, client agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with multi-functional transactional teams (including corporate development, accounting, sales, and human resources) to develop company policies, processes, and legal compliance frameworks.
  • Risk Mitigation: Assisting internal and external counsel in providing legal guidance, anticipating potential legal issues, and mitigating risks across corporate groups and third-party relationships.
  • Privacy & Compliance: Advising business groups on privacy laws, regulations, and industry standards, and coordinating advice from external counsel.
  • Litigation & M&A Support: Assisting with responses to subpoenas and litigation discovery requests, and supporting merger and acquisition (M&A) activities by managing due diligence processes.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school is mandatory.
  • Bar Admission: Must be a member in good standing of at least one State Bar or the District of Columbia Bar.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of related legal work experience. Prior experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts is highly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.

Compensation and Work Structure

  • Salary Range: $115,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year (Base pay based on skills and experience).
  • Work Type: Full-time, Hybrid (requires regular in-office presence at the Omaha, NE office).
