The successful candidate will provide day-to-day legal support that shapes how the company builds, uses, and shares technology. Key responsibilities include advising on IP licensing and transactions, partnering with cross-functional teams to strengthen open-source governance, and ensuring compliance across Airbnb’s global technology ecosystem. In addition to core IP duties, the Associate Counsel will support Tech Brand initiatives by providing legal review and risk guidance for external communications, technical storytelling, and developer-facing programs. The role requires a practical, business-forward approach to protect the company’s brand and marketplace integrity while facilitating engineering innovation. The position is intended for a collaborative professional capable of balancing local and global perspectives within a diverse international legal department. Eligibility: * J.D. degree and active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. * At least three years of relevant legal experience (law firm, government, and/or in-house). * Meaningful experience in IP transactions, licensing, and advising technology-focused teams. * Working knowledge of intellectual property law, including copyright, trademark, and patent fundamentals. * Familiarity with open-source licensing concepts and compliance considerations. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk-framing skills.
