Located in Universal City, CA, this full-time role is designed for early-career entertainment attorneys looking to immerse themselves in the legal dynamics of a global media powerhouse. The position operates on a hybrid model, requiring a minimum of four days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
The Associate Counsel will be responsible for managing a high-volume workload focused primarily on below-the-line production legal matters. Key duties include:
- Reviewing, analyzing, drafting, and negotiating below-the-line agreements, including physical production-related contracts such as location, lease, and vendor agreements.
- Gaining exposure to above-the-line talent agreements.
- Interpreting complex contracts and providing timely, practical legal advice on potential risks and issues.
- Conducting independent chain-of-title research.
- Handling unsolicited submissions of material for the motion picture group.
- Formulating and revising internal department drafting templates.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience: At least 1+ years of legal experience at a motion picture or television company, or a specialized entertainment law firm.
- Bar Admission: Active membership in the California Bar or registered with the California Bar as in-house counsel.
- Skills: Superior negotiation, drafting, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume workload.
Compensation and Benefits
NBCUniversal offers a competitive base salary range of $120,000 to $150,000 per year, which is also bonus eligible. Employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including:
