Opportunity Overview: Associate Transactional Counsel
Piper Maddox is recruiting an Associate Transactional Counsel on behalf of its client, a premier land owner and capital provider for energy assets across the United States. Based in Houston, Texas, this full-time role offers a junior attorney the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real estate transactions and contribute directly to critical infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will support various internal divisions, including finance, development, and asset management. Primary duties include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements such as vendor contracts, service agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and licensing agreements.
- Assisting with due diligence processes and other corporate transactions.
- Conducting legal research and analysis on issues related to contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborating with cross-functional internal teams, including finance, operations, and procurement, to facilitate smooth transactional workflows.
- Maintaining organized records of contracts and legal documents for easy retrieval.
- Supporting senior counsel in preparing materials for board meetings and shareholder communications.
Eligibility & Qualifications
Candidates applying for this position should meet the following requirements:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of legal experience (relevant internships, clerkships, or law school clinic experience will be considered).
- Skills: Strong understanding of contract law and basic corporate law principles, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and a keen eye for detail.
- Attributes: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment, along with a collaborative, adaptable mindset.
- Preferred: Prior exposure to transactional or corporate law through coursework, internships, or clinics is highly desirable.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a competitive compensation package, including:
- Salary: $130,000 to $140,000 per year (plus bonus eligibility). Note: The base pay range listed on the platform is $120,000 to $130,000 per year.
