Accutrainee Limited, operating through its Accuflex business unit, is currently recruiting a Commercial Counsel (Fintech / Payments) for a global financial services and payments organisation. This is an exceptional opportunity for legal professionals to join a market-leading fintech business within a highly regarded in-house legal team based in London on a hybrid working model.

Role Overview

The position is a full-time, 12-month contract role with an immediate start date. The successful candidate will be positioned at the heart of a key commercial function, supporting high-value relationships and transactions across both domestic (UK) and international markets. This role offers significant exposure to complex, large-scale commercial arrangements and direct interaction with senior business stakeholders in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a high volume of commercial and partnership agreements with merchant partners globally.
  • Risk & Regulation: Advising the business on commercial risk, contract structures, and regulatory considerations.
  • Compliance Collaboration: Working closely with compliance teams on regulatory issues and reporting requirements.
  • Business Advisory: Providing clear, pragmatic, and solutions-focused legal advice to sales and partnerships teams.
  • Process Improvement: Contributing to the development and enhancement of internal contracting processes.

Eligibility & Candidate Profile

To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Professional Qualification: Must be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or possess an equivalent qualification).
  • Experience: 3 to 6 years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) with a strong background in commercial contracts.
  • Sector Expertise: Prior experience in financial services, fintech, or payments is highly desirable.
  • In-house Exposure: Previous in-house experience or a secondment is strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Confident stakeholder management skills, ability to operate autonomously in a high-volume environment, and a pragmatic approach to legal risk.
