Asana, a leading global platform for human and AI collaboration, is seeking a highly collaborative and skilled Commercial Counsel, Procurement to join its global Legal & Stock Department. This full-time, mid-senior level role is based in the United States (with North Charleston, SC highlighted) and offers a unique opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams to support procurement and vendor onboarding. The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Commercial Counsel, Procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of inbound commercial agreements, including SaaS, licensing, consulting, services, and goods purchase contracts, along with supporting documents like DPAs, BAAs, and AI terms.
- Strategic Advisory: Provide timely, practical, and business-focused legal advice to internal stakeholders, assessing material risks and simplifying complex legal concepts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Finance, Sourcing, Procurement Operations, Privacy, and Security teams to streamline global commercial contracting processes and enforce company policies.
- Process Optimization: Develop scalable contracting frameworks, playbooks, and standards to support Asana's high-growth business environment.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on emerging laws, regulations, and judicial decisions affecting the SaaS and technology sectors.
Eligibility Criteria
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal experience, with a strong preference for in-house experience at a SaaS or technology company.
- Education: A law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Bar Admission: Active admission to practice law in the United States.
- Skills: Proven expertise in negotiating procurement agreements, excellent legal and business judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies is highly valued.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: The estimated base salary range for this position is $181,000 to $206,100, depending on qualifications and experience.
