This role serves as the day-to-day owner of commercial contracting, vendor procurement, sales and merchant agreements, and technology transactions. The attorney will collaborate closely with Procurement, Sales, Engineering, Product, and Information Security to advance deals while safeguarding Sezzle’s commercial, regulatory, and data interests. Sezzle is seeking a Contracts Attorney to join its growing in-house Legal team. This role serves as the day-to-day owner of commercial contracting, vendor procurement, sales and merchant agreements, and technology transactions. The attorney will collaborate closely with Procurement, Sales, Engineering, Product, and Information Security to advance deals while safeguarding Sezzle’s commercial, regulatory, and data interests. This is a hands-on role requiring pragmatism, clean drafting, and high-volume negotiation skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad portfolio of commercial agreements, including MSAs, SaaS, software licenses, SOWs, and NDAs.
- Lead vendor procurement contracting end-to-end from intake and risk triage through execution and renewal.
- Support the Sales organization on merchant and partner agreements, pricing schedules, and bespoke enterprise deals.
- Negotiate technology agreements covering payments infrastructure, data analytics, AI/ML services, and hosting.
- Review and negotiate Data Protection Agreements (DPAs), standard contractual clauses, and security exhibits.
- Maintain and continuously improve contract templates, playbooks, and contract lifecycle management (CLM) workflows.
- Leverage AI tools (such as Claude or equivalent LLMs) to enhance productivity, research, and communication.
