LATICRETE International, a global leader in high-performance tile and stone installation systems and building finishing solutions, is seeking a highly qualified and ambitious professional for the position of Director, Legal. This is a remote-based role located in the Greater Houston area, requiring approximately 25% global travel. The selected candidate will serve as the sole in-house legal advisor for LATICRETE International and its affiliates, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Director, Legal will oversee the company's global legal affairs, manage external counsel, and provide strategic legal guidance on corporate, regulatory, and operational matters. Key responsibilities include:

  • Corporate & Business Law: Overseeing corporate governance, board meetings, shareholder communications, and managing legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Partnering with the Enterprise Risk and Audit Director to ensure adherence to local, state, federal, and international laws.
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Managing worldwide litigation, claims, and disputes, and selecting and managing external counsel to control legal spend.
  • Contract & Employment Law: Drafting and reviewing critical commercial contracts and advising Human Resources on employment and labor law compliance.
  • Intellectual Property: Overseeing the protection and enforcement of the company's global IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this executive position:

  • Education: Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Membership: Active bar membership in good standing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of corporate legal experience, with a preference for at least 2 years in a law firm and the majority spent in-house.
  • Preferred Experience: Prior experience as a sole or lead in-house counsel in a global manufacturing or chemical/building products company is highly preferred. Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) is also a strong plus.

Compensation & Benefits

LATICRETE International offers a highly competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits:

  • Base Salary: $230,000 to $290,000 per annum (excluding bonuses or other incentives).
