LATICRETE International, a global leader in high-performance tile, stone installation systems, and building finishing solutions, is seeking a highly qualified and ambitious Director, Legal. This is a unique opportunity to serve as the sole in-house legal advisor for a family-owned, globally operating company with over 65 years of industry presence across 100 countries.

Role Overview

The Director, Legal will manage the company’s global legal affairs, oversee external counsel, and provide strategic legal guidance directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and senior leadership. This remote role requires a pragmatic, entrepreneurial legal professional who can balance risk management with business agility across diverse international legal systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Corporate Governance & Transactions: Oversee corporate governance, board meetings, shareholder communications, and manage legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Partner with the Enterprise Risk and Audit Director to ensure global compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations.
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Manage worldwide litigation, claims, and investigations. Select and manage external counsel to optimize legal spend.
  • Contract & IP Management: Draft and review critical commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and licensing deals. Oversee the protection and enforcement of the company's intellectual property portfolio.
  • Employment Law: Advise Human Resources on global labor relations, workplace safety, benefits, and compliance.

Eligibility & Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this senior leadership position:

  • Education: Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Active bar membership in good standing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of corporate legal experience, with at least 2 years in a law firm and the majority as in-house counsel.
  • Preferred Background: Experience as sole or lead in-house counsel in a global manufacturing, chemical, or building products company is highly preferred. Experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) is also a strong asset.
  • Travel: Ability to travel globally approximately 25% of the time.

Compensation & Benefits

LATICRETE International offers a highly competitive compensation package, including:

  • Base Salary: $230,000 to $290,000 per annum (excluding bonuses and other incentives).
