LATICRETE International, a global leader in high-performance tile, stone installation systems, and building finishing solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and entrepreneurial legal professional to join their team as the Director, Legal. This is a remote-based role located in the District of Columbia, United States, requiring approximately 25% global travel. The selected candidate will serve as the sole in-house legal advisor for LATICRETE International and its global affiliates, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Key Responsibilities
The Director, Legal will manage the company's global legal affairs, mitigate risks, and provide strategic guidance to senior leadership. Primary responsibilities include:
- Corporate Governance & M&A: Overseeing corporate governance, board meetings, shareholder communications, and managing legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Collaborating with the Enterprise Risk and Audit Director to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international laws.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Managing global litigation, claims, and disputes; selecting and managing external counsel to control legal spend.
- Contract Negotiation: Drafting and reviewing critical commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and licensing arrangements.
- Employment & IP Law: Advising HR on global employment compliance and overseeing the protection and enforcement of the company's intellectual property portfolio.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this executive-level position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Bar Admission: Active bar membership in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of corporate legal experience, with a preference for at least 2 years in a law firm and the majority as in-house counsel. Experience as a sole or lead counsel in a global manufacturing or chemical company is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong executive presence, exceptional ethical standards, and the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business advice.
Compensation & Benefits
The expected base salary range for this position is $230,000 to $290,000 per year (excluding bonuses and other benefits).
