LATICRETE International, a global leader in high-performance tile, stone installation systems, and building finishing solutions, is seeking an experienced and strategic professional for the position of Director, Legal. Operating as a family-owned business for over 65 years across more than 100 countries, the company is looking for a sole in-house legal advisor to guide its global legal affairs and support its fast-paced international expansion.
Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
The Director, Legal will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will oversee all legal matters for LATICRETE International and its affiliates. Key responsibilities include:
- Corporate Governance & M&A: Managing corporate governance, board meetings, shareholder communications, and providing legal oversight for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Regulatory Compliance: Collaborating with the Enterprise Risk and Audit Director to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international laws.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Managing global litigation, claims, and disputes, including selecting and managing external counsel to control legal spend.
- Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating critical commercial contracts, licensing agreements, and vendor partnerships.
- Employment & Labor Law: Advising Human Resources on employee relations, terminations, benefits, and workplace safety compliance.
- Intellectual Property: Overseeing the protection and enforcement of the company's global IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for this senior leadership role:
- Education: Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of corporate legal experience, with at least two years in a law firm and the majority in an in-house legal department.
- Global Experience: Prior experience as a sole or lead in-house counsel in a global manufacturing or chemical/building products company is highly preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional executive presence, strong contract negotiation skills, and a pragmatic, entrepreneurial mindset suitable for a family-owned business with professional governance.
- Travel: Ability to travel globally approximately 25% of the time.
Compensation, Benefits & Location
This is a remote position requiring global travel. LATICRETE International offers a highly competitive compensation package:
- Base Salary: $230,000 to $290,000 per annum (excluding bonuses and other incentives).
