Employment Counsel (In-House Attorney) at Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill, a premier staffing and career placement firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employment Counsel (In-House Attorney) to support a growing healthcare services and technology company. This is a full-time, mid-to-senior level position designed for a legal professional who can provide practical, business-focused legal counsel on a wide range of employment matters. The role involves working closely with Human Resources and company leadership to support a multi-state workforce and proactively manage legal risks.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will handle a diverse portfolio of employment law issues. Primary duties include:

  • Advisory Services: Providing strategic legal advice on daily employment matters, including hiring practices, terminations, employee relations, workplace investigations, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour compliance, and leaves of absence.
  • Collaboration with HR: Partnering with HR departments and organizational leadership to resolve complex employee relations issues and implement compliant, practical solutions.
  • Litigation & Dispute Management: Managing and overseeing employment-related agency charges (such as EEOC and DOL matters) and litigation, including coordinating with external counsel.
  • Policy Drafting: Drafting, reviewing, and updating employment agreements, corporate policies, employee handbooks, and related documentation.
  • Training & Compliance: Delivering training and guidance to internal teams on emerging employment law developments, compliance standards, and industry best practices.

Eligibility & Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education & Bar Admission: Possession of a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and an active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of dedicated employment law experience. This experience can be acquired in-house, within a law firm, or through a combination of both.
  • Core Competencies: Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, alongside proven experience handling employment disputes, investigations, and agency charges.
  • Skills: Exceptional judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships across various business units.
  • Preferred Experience: Prior legal experience within healthcare, technology, or other highly regulated industries is highly advantageous.

Compensation & Location

  • Salary Range: $200,000.00 to $240,000.00 per year (Base pay, depending on skills and experience).
  • Location: Washington, DC area is preferred; however, remote candidates may be considered.
