Reporting directly to the Lead Employment Counsel, the position will collaborate closely with Human Resources, Employee Relations, Payroll, Operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to support employment litigation, compliance initiatives, policy development, investigations, and day-to-day counseling. 7-Eleven is seeking an in-house Employment Counsel to support its Employment Legal team. This role involves providing practical, business-oriented legal counsel on a wide range of employment-related matters across the U.S. and Canada. Reporting directly to the Lead Employment Counsel, the position will collaborate closely with Human Resources, Employee Relations, Payroll, Operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to support employment litigation, compliance initiatives, policy development, investigations, and day-to-day counseling. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support and practical guidance on employee relations, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, accommodations, investigations, discipline, and terminations.
- Assist in and manage employment litigation, administrative charges, demand letters, agency matters, and outside counsel.
- Draft, review, and update employment policies, procedures, training materials, and employee communications.
- Monitor developments in federal, state, and local employment laws and assist with policy implementation.
