This senior leadership role involves partnering closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to guide organizational strategy, mitigate operational risks, and support long-term sustainability. The position balances high-level strategic advising with hands-on execution of legal matters in a collaborative environment. The General Counsel is responsible for overseeing all legal operations, including the drafting and negotiation of high-impact contracts, advising on labor and employment matters for a multi-state workforce, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Additionally, the role involves managing external legal vendors, supporting governance efforts, and developing internal policy frameworks to enhance organizational effectiveness. Eligibility: * Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. * Active bar admission. * 10+ years of legal experience, with senior-level or in-house counsel experience strongly preferred. * Demonstrated experience advising organizations operating at a national or multi-state level (nonprofit, education, or public sector experience preferred). * Strong background in nonprofit compliance, employment law, and risk management.
