WellRithms, Inc., a prominent healthcare and litigation support company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join its rapidly expanding Workers’ Compensation team. This critical, high-impact role is dedicated exclusively to managing and overseeing workers’ compensation litigation matters within the state of Missouri. The position offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned litigator to drive strategic excellence and handle complex claims from inception to resolution.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report directly to the Litigation Management Director and will be tasked with the following core duties:
- Case Management: Oversee a substantial portfolio of Missouri workers' compensation cases throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial intake to final resolution.
- Litigation & Advocacy: Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and persuasive legal briefs. Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as required.
- Appellate Practice: Navigate complex legal issues to effectively handle and file appeals before administrative bodies or higher courts.
- Negotiation: Engage with opposing counsel, insurance companies, and key stakeholders to secure favorable settlements and protect the company's interests.
- Collaboration: Work closely with paralegals, medical experts, and internal legal teams to develop robust trial and risk management strategies.
Eligibility & Qualifications
To be considered for this mid-senior level position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited ABA law school.
- Bar Admission: Active, good-standing license to practice law in the state of Missouri.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of dedicated experience in workers' compensation law and litigation, with a deep understanding of Missouri's specific statutory framework and regulations.
- Residency Requirement: Candidates must currently reside in the St. Louis, Missouri metropolitan area.
- Skills: Proven expertise in trial advocacy, appellate litigation, and state rules of evidence. Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is highly advantageous.
Work Environment & Position Details
While WellRithms, Inc. is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, this specific role is designed as a remote, work-from-home position based out of St. Louis, Missouri. However, the In-House Counsel must be highly adaptable and prepared to travel as needed for in-person court appearances, depositions, and administrative hearings across the state. This is a full-time, mid-senior level position within the healthcare and legal sectors.
