The role involves delivering legal strategy and providing expert, accurate, and cost-effective legal advice to the Home Ownership & Financial Health & Support businesses, specifically focusing on secured consumer lending matters. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of legal advice supporting Retail Banking and Private Banking & Wealth Management businesses.
- Ensure legal advice is understandable to non-lawyers, delivered within relevant timescales, and minimizes legal and regulatory risks.
- Drive continuous improvement in operating practices, identifying efficiencies and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Manage legal costs through e-billing, auctions, and other cost tools.
- UK qualified lawyer.
- Experience providing legal, regulatory, and commercial advice in-house or within a leading UK law firm.
- In-depth knowledge of general banking law and practice, with specific expertise in the UK regulatory environment relating to secured consumer lending (particularly MCOB) and consumer financial regulation.
- Understanding of the UK consumer mortgage market and the financial services industry.
