Description: NatWest Group is hiring a Legal Counsel for a 12-month contract within their Secured Lending & Financial Health & Support Legal team. The successful candidate will deliver legal strategy and provide expert, accurate, and cost-effective legal advice to the Home Ownership & Financial Health & Support businesses, and more broadly in relation to secured consumer lending matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of legal advice supporting Retail Banking and Private Banking & Wealth Management businesses.
- Ensure legal advice is understandable to non-lawyers and delivered within relevant timescales to manage and minimise legal and regulatory risks.
- Deliver continuous improvement in operating practices and processes, identifying efficiencies and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Manage legal costs through e-billing, auctions, and other cost tools.
- UK qualified with experience providing legal, regulatory, and commercial advice in-house or in a leading UK law firm.
- In-depth knowledge of general banking law and practice.
- Expertise in the UK regulatory environment relating to secured consumer lending (particularly MCOB) and consumer financial regulation generally.
- Understanding of the UK consumer mortgage market and the financial services industry.
