Atlas Copco North America is seeking an experienced, business-minded in-house attorney to serve as a Legal Counsel. This generalist role is designed for a legal professional who can work independently, exercise sound judgment, and partner effectively with diverse business stakeholders across the organization. The position is based in Rock Hill (noted as Rock Hill, NY on LinkedIn and Rock Hill, SC in the corporate description) and offers a dynamic environment within a global network.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice across multiple areas. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic legal support on a wide range of operational and business matters affecting North American operations.
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on commercial agreements, contracts, and other business arrangements.
  • Supporting employment-related matters, including counseling on workplace issues, policies, investigations, and risk management.
  • Assisting with litigation and dispute resolution, including managing outside counsel and coordinating internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings, including due diligence, transaction documentation, and post-closing integration.
  • Advising on compliance matters and supporting the development and implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and training initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. State, with the ability to qualify for an in-house counsel license.
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of relevant legal experience, with a minimum of 1 year of dedicated in-house legal experience.
  • Practice Areas: Broad-based legal experience across litigation, M&A, employment, compliance, commercial contracts, and real estate.
  • Travel: Ability to travel locally, domestically, and globally as required.
  • Skills: Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
