About the Opportunity
Heriot Brown In-House Legal Recruitment is seeking a qualified Legal Counsel on behalf of a global technology and AI translation business based in Greater London. The client is an industry-leading global player with revenues exceeding £750 million and a market cap of £1.3 billion, specializing in protecting and commercializing innovative ideas across Europe, North America, and Asia. This hybrid role reports directly to the VP, Head of Legal, offering direct exposure to the C-suite and the IP Services team.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of global commercial contracts, including patent services, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), software licenses, Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), and procurement agreements.
- IP & AI Advisory: Provide strategic legal advice on intellectual property ownership, licensing, and rights concerning data, algorithms, and AI model outputs.
- Collaboration Support: Partner with commercial and procurement teams to structure legally compliant AI collaborations.
- Portfolio Management: Manage the Group's global IP portfolio, coordinating with product teams and external advisors on patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
Eligibility Criteria
- Jurisdictional Qualification: Must be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales, Australia, or New Zealand.
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) gained within a top-tier law firm or a reputable in-house legal department.
- Domain Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in Intellectual Property (IP) law, preferably within the technology, media, or professional services sectors.
- Professional Skills: Strong commercial acumen, confident drafting capabilities, and excellent stakeholder management skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience).
- Bonus & Pension: Performance-based annual bonus and competitive pension contributions.
- Work-Life Balance: Flexible hybrid working arrangement requiring only 1 day per week in the Greater London office.
- Health & Leave: Healthcare cash plan (with optional dental coverage) and 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays), which increases with tenure.
