Superdry, the globally recognized British fashion brand, is seeking a commercially-minded legal professional to join its in-house legal team as Legal Counsel – Commercial. Based at their headquarters in Cheltenham, England, this full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to support Superdry’s global operations, manage commercial risks, and contribute directly to the brand's turnaround and growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
As a Legal Counsel, you will act as a key business partner across various global functions. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Contract Negotiation: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements spanning ecommerce, logistics, retail, franchise, wholesale, and technology.
- Litigation Support: Assisting the General Counsel on commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters.
- Regulatory Compliance: Providing practical, commercial advice on global laws and regulations affecting retail and consumer-led businesses.
- Business Partnering: Serving as a dedicated Legal Business Partner to Superdry's global teams, aligning legal strategies with commercial objectives.
- External Counsel Management: Instructing and managing external legal counsel and other service providers effectively.
- Process Improvement: Driving continuous improvement within the legal department, including the adoption of legal tech solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Superdry is looking for candidates who meet the following professional standards:
- Qualification: Must be a solicitor qualified to practice in England and Wales.
- Experience: Ideally possesses at least 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law, though exceptional candidates with different experience levels will be considered.
- Desirable Skills: Prior experience in Corporate Law or Commercial Litigation is highly advantageous.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience working in-house (either through a permanent role or secondment) within a retail, consumer goods, or fast-paced commercial environment is preferred.
