About the Opportunity
Arbuthnot Yon is recruiting for a Legal Counsel (Disputes) on behalf of a market-leading, regulated business operating across the UK. The client organization boasts a turnover of approximately £800 million and serves around 400,000 customers. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a litigator to join an established and growing in-house legal team. The role is based in Staffordshire, England, with hybrid working arrangements available.
Role and Responsibilities
This position offers a blend of strategic and operational focus. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Support and mentor a team of paralegals and legal specialists.
- Manage an independent caseload of disputes, ranging from legacy to current-day customer disputes involving contractual, debt, and regulatory issues.
- Collaborate with and support the Head of Disputes on high-value, complex cases, including in-person negotiations and complex settlement arrangements.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be a qualified litigation lawyer with approximately 2 to 5 years of Post Qualified Experience (PQE) or equivalent.
- Possess solid dispute resolution experience gained within a reputable private practice or an in-house legal department.
- Demonstrate excellent relationship-building skills and a passion for partnering closely with business units.
