LVMH Group is offering a unique and prestigious dual-role opportunity for an experienced legal professional to serve as Legal Counsel for two of its iconic luxury houses: Berluti and Louis Vuitton. Based full-time at the Louis Vuitton office in Shanghai, China, this position is split equally (50/50) between both brands, providing comprehensive legal support across commercial contracts, e-commerce, data privacy, and regulatory compliance in mainland China.
Role Structure & Reporting Lines
This dual-role position requires navigating complex legal environments under a dual-supervision framework:
- Berluti Support (50%): Reports operationally to the Director of Finance & Operations, Asia Pacific (Berluti) and functionally to the Berluti Group General Counsel to ensure alignment with global legal policies and risk management frameworks.
- Louis Vuitton Support (50%): Reports directly to the General Counsel of Louis Vuitton China, assisting the broader legal team on commercial and business affairs.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of legal responsibilities across both luxury houses:
- Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate distribution, agency, supplier, vendor, retail lease, and marketing agreements.
- E-Commerce & Digital: Manage service agreements for major Chinese digital platforms (including Tmall, JD, and WeChat Mini Programs) and digital marketing terms.
- Data Privacy & Compliance: Lead compliance initiatives under China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), including privacy policy reviews, data transfer assessments, and user data processing practices.
- Dispute Resolution & Governance: Coordinate with external counsel on litigation, intellectual property enforcement, and regulatory inquiries.
- Cross-Functional Training: Deliver training to internal stakeholders on contract fundamentals, data protection, and risk management.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for this mid-senior level position must meet the following requirements:
- Education & Qualification: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent degree. Must be a qualified lawyer in good standing (P.R. China or common law jurisdiction preferred).
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification legal experience, ideally gained in top-tier law firms or in-house roles within multinational corporations (preferably in the luxury, retail, or consumer goods sectors).
- Legal Expertise: Strong understanding of Chinese contract law, commercial regulations, and data privacy laws (specifically PIPL). Experience with digital business models is highly desirable.
- Language Skills: Professional fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
