DVF Recruitment is partnering with a leading global insurer and reinsurer to recruit a highly skilled Legal Counsel for its UK legal team based in London. This is a broad, highly visible, and strategically significant role that offers the selected candidate the opportunity to work closely with senior business leaders on a wide range of legal, regulatory, and commercial matters across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to the business, supporting underwriting, product, and leadership teams while managing legal risk. Key duties include:

• Advising on complex insurance and reinsurance matters across property, casualty, and specialty lines.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Lloyd's and Company Market policy wordings, delegated authority agreements, and distribution arrangements.
• Supporting underwriting and product teams on governance, regulatory requirements, and product development.
• Providing legal advice on coverage issues, disputes, sanctions, and regulatory matters.
• Advising on commercial contracts and broader corporate legal issues.
• Supporting strategic business initiatives, corporate projects, and transactions.
• Developing legal guidance, training, and best-practice documentation for internal teams.
• Managing legal risk and coordinating with external counsel when required.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for this position must meet the following professional requirements:

• Qualification: Qualified lawyer with approximately 5 to 6+ years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE).
• Domain Expertise: Strong insurance and/or reinsurance legal experience, gained either in private practice or in-house.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Good knowledge of UK insurance regulation and the Lloyd's market.
• Skills: Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with a commercially minded approach to balancing legal risk and business objectives.
• Stakeholder Management: Comfortable building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Remuneration & Benefits

The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from £100,000.00 to £120,000.00 per year, depending on experience. In addition to the base pay, the package includes a performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
