Title: Legal Counsel - Pension Derisking Category: Jobs Organiser: M&G Description: M&G is seeking an experienced Pension Risk Transfer Lawyer to join its legal team as a permanent member. The role is primarily focused on advising the firm’s growing pensions de-risking business on all aspects of insured risk transfer arrangements. The successful candidate will work within a heritage-rich institution that combines asset management and insurance expertise to provide long-term investment solutions. The position encompasses a broad range of legal responsibilities, including transaction structuring and execution, drafting and negotiating complex transaction documentation, and providing regulatory advice. The Counsel will act as a strategic business partner, supporting innovative de-risking solutions tailored for corporate and institutional clients, while managing external counsel and collaborating with internal stakeholders. Eligibility: * Qualified lawyer (English qualification is preferred but not essential). * Minimum of 4+ years of Post Qualification Experience (PQE) within a pensions team of a law firm or an in-house team of an insurer/market player. * Extensive experience in the pensions de-risking market, specifically advising on bulk annuity transactions and defined benefit pension schemes. * Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating transaction documents, including longevity swaps and longevity reinsurance transactions. * Strong analytical skills, professional judgment, and the ability to manage fluid deadlines in a corporate environment.
