Page Executive, the global executive search and advisory arm of PageGroup plc, is currently recruiting for a highly skilled Legal Counsel (VP, Counsel) to join a prestigious global bank in New York, NY. This is an exceptional opportunity for a mid-level banking and finance attorney to transition into a key in-house role, managing a diverse portfolio of contracts, loan documentation, and general banking legal matters.

Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will serve as Vice President, Counsel, providing strategic legal advice and executing comprehensive legal reviews. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Contract Negotiation & Drafting: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, credit agreements, and financing transaction documents while identifying and mitigating legal risks.
  • Standardization: Developing and managing internal standard form documentation to streamline banking operations.
  • Dispute Resolution & Litigation: Assisting with litigation and disputes, with a specific focus on non-performing credit asset workouts.
  • External Counsel Management: Coordinating and managing relationships with external legal counsel when specialized representation is required.
  • Advisory Services: Advising internal business units on the bank's legal issues, services, regulatory compliance, and special projects.

Eligibility & Candidate Profile

To be considered for this competitive in-house position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Active admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of banking and finance legal experience, ideally gained at a top-tier law firm or within the in-house legal department of a commercial bank.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial credit documents, loan agreements, and related financing transaction paperwork.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Mandarin is required for this role.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Compensation & Benefits

The position offers a competitive compensation package, including:

  • Base Salary: $140,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year (dependent on skills and experience).
