HARMAN International, a global leader in automotive, lifestyle, and digital transformation solutions, is seeking a highly qualified Legal Specialist, Business Commercial Counsel to join its team in Shanghai, China. This role is positioned within HARMAN’s Automotive global organization, focusing on sales, operations, procurement, and supporting various Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and corporate functions such as finance, human resources, and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will work closely with senior legal counsel and business teams to deliver practical, commercially-oriented legal support. Primary duties include:
- Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a diverse range of commercial agreements and amendments.
- Serving as a trusted legal advisor embedded within the Automotive business teams to provide solution-oriented support.
- Supporting and enhancing the Automotive contract strategy and RFQ processes, including updating negotiation frameworks and templates.
- Handling commercial disputes with customers and suppliers, including assisting with litigation, arbitration, or mediation, and coordinating with external counsel.
- Collaborating with local and functional stakeholders on ongoing projects to identify and mitigate legal risks.
- Developing and maintaining standardized templates, playbooks, and internal guidelines to improve operational efficiency.
- Preparing and coordinating internal legal training sessions for employees.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following professional requirements:
- Education: A Law Degree from a reputable law school.
- Bar Admission: PRC bar admission is mandatory.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably gained from a reputable law firm or an in-house corporate legal department. Experience in the automotive, manufacturing, or technology sectors is highly advantageous.
- Skills: Strong foundation in drafting and reviewing commercial agreements under PRC and/or international practice. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Language & Logistics: Working knowledge of English, willingness to travel as required, and eligibility to work in China.
