Peoplebank Asia, a premier recruitment firm, is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional for the position of Manager, Legal Counsel in Singapore. This role is on behalf of their client, a leading global investment and trading group with a robust footprint across the Asia-Pacific region. The organization operates across diverse industries, engaging in strategic investments, global trading activities, and international business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will partner closely with regional business stakeholders to provide comprehensive legal, transactional, compliance, and governance support. Primary duties include:
- Legal Advisory: Delivering strategic legal advice on investments, commercial transactions, trading activities, and day-to-day business operations.
- Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, transaction documents, and corporate agreements.
- Transactional Support: Assisting with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, strategic investments, and cross-border transactions.
- Compliance & Governance: Advising on legal, regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance matters across the APAC region.
- Secretarial & Regulatory Filings: Managing corporate secretarial duties, licensing, and regulatory filing requirements.
- External Counsel Management: Instructing and managing external legal counsel to ensure practical, cost-effective support.
Eligibility & Requirements
Candidates applying for this mid-senior level position must meet the following criteria:
- Bar Admission: Qualified lawyer admitted to the bar in Singapore or another common law jurisdiction.
- Professional Experience: Possess 5 to 8 years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) gained through a combination of private practice and in-house corporate environments.
- Core Competencies: Strong background in corporate, commercial, and transactional legal work, with specific exposure to M&A, joint ventures, and cross-border transactions.
- Regional Knowledge: Familiarity with APAC regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional contract drafting, negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
