(Subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp) Description: FirstEnergy is seeking a highly experienced Managing Counsel to serve as the primary legal advisor for FERC-jurisdictional transmission rates and services. This leadership role involves providing strategic counsel to business unit presidents and senior leadership regarding public utility subsidiaries that own and operate transmission assets. The Managing Counsel will lead a dedicated team of attorneys and legal professionals, overseeing complex legal projects, research, and the drafting of critical legal documentation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal leadership in transmission rate development, settlement negotiations, and hearings. Key duties include managing wholesale agreements, supporting financial reporting (SEC Form 10-K/Q), and collaborating with internal teams to assess legal risks and evaluate dispute resolutions. The role reports directly to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel for federal regulatory matters at the corporate headquarters. Eligibility: * Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school. * Licensed to practice law in the United States and a member in good standing with a State bar. * Ability to become a member of the Ohio State bar or qualify for corporate counsel registration in Ohio within 12 months. * Minimum of 10 years of extensive experience in FERC regulation of transmission utilities, specifically involving FPA Sections 203, 204, and 205/206. * Recent experience in competitive RTO regional transmission planning and expansion processes. * Proven supervisory experience with direct reports. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word).
