Description: Qover, a leading InsurTech scale-up based in Brussels, Belgium, is seeking a Privacy and Legal Counsel. This role is a key position within both the legal and privacy teams, offering a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of law, technology (including AI), data protection, and insurance. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal guidance to shape business direction and compliance, ensuring services align with evolving regulatory frameworks while fostering innovation.

Eligibility: Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s law degree or a Master’s in law & technology or data protection, possess 1-2 years of professional experience in privacy matters or within DPO departments, and be fluent in English and any other EU language. CIPP/E, CIPM certification or an equivalent is considered a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice on data privacy, regulatory compliance, and contractual/Tech-related legal issues.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of privacy compliance programs, ensuring adherence to GDPR and other applicable laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, including technology licenses, vendor agreements, customer terms, and data-sharing agreements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively advise stakeholders on potential impacts and required actions.
  • Assist the Compliance officer on regulatory monitoring, financial crime compliance, and any other topic requiring legal support.
  • Support the DPO in their mission, including monitoring data protection law compliance, handling Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), managing Personal Data Breaches, preparing TIAs/DPIAs, conducting third-party DD assessments, updating the Register of Processing Activities (ROPA), reviewing/drafting data processing agreements and privacy notices, collaborating on data protection initiatives, staying updated with data protection laws and EDPB guidelines, and maintaining/issuing privacy policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory bodies, responding to inquiries and managing reporting obligations.
  • Develop and conduct internal training sessions on legal compliance and privacy best practices.
