About the Opportunity

Arbuthnot Yon is partnering with a premier global asset manager in the private markets space to recruit a Private Funds Legal Counsel for their London office. This is a pivotal, high-visibility role for a seasoned legal professional to act as the sole legal counsel in London, serving as the subject matter expert and trusted advisor for the firm's expanding European and global operations.

Key Responsibilities

As the Private Funds Legal Counsel, the successful candidate will manage legal affairs independently while collaborating with a wider legal team based in the United States. Key duties include:

• Overseeing closed-end and evergreen co-mingled funds, as well as separately managed accounts based in Luxembourg, the US, and globally.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating key operative documents, including Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), LLC agreements, subscription agreements, and Private Placement Memoranda (PPMs) in coordination with external counsel.
• Advising structuring and product development teams on the launch, structuring, and closing of new funds and client agreements.
• Providing risk-adjusted, practical legal and commercial counsel to internal business partners and senior leadership.
• Leading strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects to improve collaboration, consistency, and operational efficiency.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following professional requirements to be considered for this role:

• Experience: 5 to 10 years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) in funds. In-house experience is highly preferred, though candidates transitioning from top-tier private practice will also be considered.
• Specialization: Proven expertise in private equity funds and Luxembourg funds is a mandatory pre-requisite.
• Skills: Strong commercial judgment, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work autonomously. Experience with legal AI tools is considered a distinct advantage.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills, cross-functional management capabilities, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Work Structure & Compensation

• Location & Schedule: London Area, United Kingdom. The firm operates on a hybrid model requiring a minimum of four days in the office (Monday to Thursday).
• Compensation: Highly competitive base salary, supplemented by an annual discretionary bonus.
