About the Opportunity
Placer.ai, a leader in location analytics and physical market intelligence, is seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to join its lean, high-performing legal department. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this individual will play a pivotal role in driving revenue, product development, and strategic partnerships. This is a fully remote, high-ownership role designed for a legal professional capable of navigating complex commercial transactions, data licensing, privacy regulations, and artificial intelligence governance in a fast-scaled tech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Contracting & Data Partnerships: Lead high-value negotiations for enterprise customer MSAs, SaaS licenses, government reseller agreements, and inbound data provider agreements.
- Strategic Legal Support: Advise on corporate governance, employment and HR matters, equity compensation, pre-litigation disputes, and outside counsel management.
- Privacy, AI, & Product Counseling: Partner with Compliance, Product, and Engineering teams to implement privacy-by-design practices, assess product risk, and translate evolving AI regulations into actionable business strategies.
- Legal Operations: Integrate generative AI and legal technology to automate workflows, streamline contract reviews, and reduce business friction.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
- Bar Admission: Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, including significant in-house experience at a technology, SaaS, data, or high-growth B2B company.
- Skills: Strong background in commercial contracting, technology transactions, and privacy/product counseling. Fluency in utilizing legal technology and AI tools is highly preferred.
- Location: Must be based in the United States (fully remote position).

Placer.ai offers a competitive total rewards package, which includes:
- Annualized Pay Range: $200,000 - $240,000 USD total On Target Earnings (OTE), comprising base salary and bonus targets.
