Senior Legal Counsel

About the Opportunity

LocalStack, a rapidly expanding Series A startup specializing in local cloud development and testing platforms, is looking to hire its first in-house legal professional as a Senior Legal Counsel. This remote position based in the United Kingdom offers a unique career trajectory, allowing the successful candidate to establish the company's legal framework and eventually transition into a Head of Legal role.

Key Responsibilities

As the sole in-house legal counsel, you will take complete ownership of the legal function. Key milestones and duties include:

• First 90 Days: Fully owning first-line contract reviews (NDAs, MSAs, DPAs, Order Forms, security addenda, and reseller terms) and establishing a structured legal intake and prioritization process across Sales, Finance, RevOps, and Security.
• Within 6 Months: Building a practical contract playbook with a clause library and fallback positions to streamline enterprise deal cycles and reduce friction.
• Within 12 Months: Scaling the commercial legal infrastructure (templates, self-serve tools, approval matrices) to Series B/C maturity standards.

Eligibility & Experience Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Experience: 5 to 8+ years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE), ideally combining top-tier law firm training with in-house SaaS experience.
• SaaS Contracting: Proven expertise in negotiating B2B SaaS enterprise contracts, including customer-side negotiations, SLAs, DPAs, and procurement terms.
• Jurisdictional Comfort: Strong familiarity with US and European commercial laws, along with a solid understanding of GDPR, data privacy, and security obligations.
• Preferred Qualifications: Background in developer tools, cloud infrastructure, AWS Marketplace, or highly regulated sectors. Experience implementing Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools is a plus.
