GitLab is seeking a Vice President, Legal Commercial to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of its global commercial legal function. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, the selected candidate will manage a globally distributed team of 15–20 legal professionals. This role encompasses commercial contracting, strategic partnerships, AI governance, FedRAMP, and Public Sector contracting and procurement legal. The VP will act as a key executive partner to the CRO, CFO, and broader Go-To-Market (GTM) organization, enabling GitLab to transact globally with speed, scale, and integrity. Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and execute the long-term strategy for GitLab's global commercial legal function.
  • Serve as the primary legal executive partner to the CRO, CFO, and GTM leadership on complex enterprise deal structures and pricing risks.
  • Establish enterprise-wide standards for commercial contracting, including risk tiering, escalation frameworks, and playbook strategies.
  • Oversee AI governance contracting across customer, partner, and supplier agreements, translating global AI regulations (like the EU AI Act) into practical contracting positions.
  • Lead legal support for public sector commercial contracting, including federal and SLED agreements, FAR/DFARS compliance, and facility clearance requirements.
