Description: An award-winning independent media studio is seeking a VP, Legal to lead its day-to-day legal operations and serve as the primary legal advisor across creative, finance, and marketing teams. The role involves drafting and negotiating commercial agreements for publishing and film/TV projects, managing IP portfolios, overseeing corporate compliance, and supporting fundraising rounds. This is a senior individual contributor role offering high autonomy and strategic involvement in scaling the company's legal function.
Eligibility: Applicants must possess a JD from an accredited law school and an active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (NY or CA preferred). Candidates should have 6-10+ years of experience in entertainment transactions, ideally within a top-tier law firm or in-house setting, and experience scaling legal functions at Series B stage companies.
