This role is a critical function within the organization, acting as a strategic business partner to cross-functional teams to enable high-growth targets while effectively managing legal risks.
Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
The Associate Counsel will primarily focus on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating global commercial contracts, with a strong emphasis on vendor and supplier agreements originating from the United States, Europe, India, and Singapore. Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting and reviewing commercial agreements, including Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Order Forms, and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
- Providing strategic legal and business advice to ensure all agreements align with company playbooks, internal policies, and compliance processes.
- Staying updated on the evolving legal landscape, regulations, and industry guidelines affecting commercial transactions.
- Collaborating with internal departments such as Procurement, Security, and People (HR) across different time zones.
- Assisting in enhancing legal playbooks to scale the legal department's operations as the company grows.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following requirements:
- Qualification: Must be a fully qualified lawyer admitted to practice law in India.
- Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating global commercial agreements. This experience can be from an in-house legal department, a nationally recognized law firm, or a combination of both.
- Skills: Strong negotiation skills, excellent communication abilities, and a pragmatic, business-friendly mindset.
- Preferred: Prior experience with contract management systems and data privacy regulations is considered a plus.
