Apto is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its team in London, England, United Kingdom. Apto is a data centre company that designs, builds, and operates hyperscale data centres across Europe, backed by global investment manager PIMCO. The Legal Counsel will act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic legal support across data centre acquisition, leasing, construction, procurement, and compliance matters.

Key Eligibility Criteria

  • 2-4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in construction and development.
  • Strong transactional experience gained in private practice or in-house.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the confidence to advise senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial, pragmatic approach with a strong ability to balance legal risks and business objectives.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of varied work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with complex construction/supply-chain contracts (FIDIC preferred), previous in-house data centre or mission-critical sector experience, multi-jurisdictional exposure across Europe, and experience with colocation, hyperscale leasing, real estate, and corporate acquisition transactions.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

  • Assist with creating template forms to support acquisition, leasing, and procurement contract negotiations.
  • Negotiate, draft, and advise on risk allocation and mitigation strategies across complex leasing, construction, and supply-chain agreements (including FIDIC and bespoke forms).
  • Work with the Apto team to ensure change management processes and procedures are robust, effective, and compliant with company policies.
  • Support on contract administration, dispute resolution, and claims management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance and operational efficiency.
