GMR Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the position of Lead Counsel - Strategic Litigations based in the Greater Hyderabad Area. The role involves managing high-stakes, strategic, and regulatory litigations impacting the airport business, including arbitrations, tariff disputes, environmental matters, and constitutional or statutory challenges.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Degree: LL.B required (LL.M preferred).
- Experience: 10-12 years of post-qualification experience in litigation and regulatory legal work.
- Sector Experience: At least 5 years specifically managing high-stake cases, preferably in infrastructure, aviation, or regulated sectors.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Manage high-value, precedent-setting, and regulatory litigations across airports, including arbitrations, writ petitions, tariff-related disputes, SLPs, and environmental matters before forums such as NGT, High Courts, and the Supreme Court.
- Develop end-to-end litigation strategy, lead case briefings, documentation reviews, and argument development in coordination with senior counsels and law firms.
- Address disputes arising from concession agreements, airport service contracts, and regulatory directions, supporting internal teams with contract interpretation and pre-litigation mitigation.
- Draft representations or responses to government and regulatory authorities regarding policy amendments or draft laws affecting airport operations.
- Conduct detailed legal research, maintain internal precedent databases, and track ongoing litigation matters via structured MIS and dashboards.
- Coordinate with law firms, senior advocates, and cross-functional internal stakeholders including finance, operations, compliance, and regulatory affairs.
