Associate Director - Legal and Regulatory

JioStar is seeking a bright, highly motivated individual for the full-time position of Associate Director - Legal and Regulatory (Dispute Resolution) within its Corporate Legal team based in Mumbai. The role involves handling pre-litigation advisory and litigation matters concerning civil and criminal laws, with a strong focus on media and entertainment regulations, IPR protection, and commercial disputes.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Experience: 7-9 years of post-qualification experience, preferably with background in a media-entertainment company or an IP litigation law firm.
• Domain Knowledge: Strong expertise in copyright laws, trademark disputes, civil-commercial laws, criminal laws, and familiarity with court proceedings.
• Skills: Excellent contract/corporate knowledge, drafting skills, business-oriented commercial mindset, and proven track record of managing a team.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Drafting and reviewing pleadings, notices, replies, and other documents for ongoing litigation and disputes.
• Managing company litigations by formulating strategies and briefing/appointing attorneys and Senior Counsels.
• Conducting pre-release due diligence and risk analysis of scripts, screenplays, movies, musical content, and web-series.
• Providing legal opinions to business units on complex legal issues, copyright/media laws, and regulatory affairs.
• Handling anti-piracy actions and liaising with statutory authorities.
