Associate - Indirect Tax - Customs Litigation

Contextual Overview

Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan attorneys is inviting applications for the position of Associate specializing in Indirect Tax - Customs Litigation at their Mumbai office. This full-time role focuses on managing regular advisory and litigation engagements pertaining to Customs, Foreign Trade Policy, Special Economic Zones, and related subjects.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Law Graduate from a known Law School with a strong academic track record.
• 6 months to 2 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect Tax, with preference given to prior experience in Customs, Foreign Trade Policy, and Special Economic Zones.
• Strong analytical, research, communication, and drafting skills.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Handle regular advisory and litigation engagements pertaining to Customs, Foreign Trade Policy, and SEZs.
• Brief and assist senior counsels in appearances before tax officers, Tribunals, High Courts, and the Supreme Court.
• Draft legal documents including legal opinions, replies, and tax appeals.
• Handle tax matters involving preparation of submissions, replies to notices, and representation during appeals.
• Contribute to the firm's knowledge management activities, including case law digests, litigation meetings, and article writing.
