Senior Legal Counsel

Contextual Overview

Lendi Group is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their team in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The role involves providing commercially focused legal advice across a diverse and evolving fintech business, reporting directly to the General Counsel.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• 6+ years of legal experience, ideally within financial services, lending, fintech, technology, or regulated environments.
• Hold a valid law degree and a current practising certificate.
• Strong commercial judgment and contract negotiation capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Provide clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused legal advice to senior leaders and internal teams.
• Support strategic initiatives, new products, projects, acquisitions, and regulatory change.
• Shape responsible AI and innovation by advising on legal, regulatory, contractual, privacy, and ethical considerations.
• Lead commercial contracting by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of agreements.
• Navigate complex regulatory matters across consumer credit, AML/CTF, franchising, real estate licensing, IP, and competition law.
• Manage external counsel and legal budgets.
