Contextual Overview

Lenovo, a US$83 billion global technology company ranked #153 on the Fortune Global 500, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support its Chief Technology Officer Organization (CTOO) — Lenovo's internal innovation laboratory for enterprise AI, hybrid AI platforms, and next-generation technology development. The role reports to the Vice President of Intellectual Property and Litigation and functions as an embedded legal and business advisor working directly with CTO executives, researchers, engineers, and product leaders. The preferred locations are Morrisville, NC or Chicago, IL; remote candidates may be considered.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• JD from a top-tier law school; strong academic credentials preferred
• Minimum 10+ years of law firm and/or in-house legal experience
• Experience advising technology, software, AI, data, infrastructure, or electronics businesses
• Business, technical product, software, AI/ML, data platform, or engineering-adjacent background strongly preferred
• Experience advising senior executives of large multinational corporations on strategic technology initiatives
• Combination of in-house and outside counsel experience preferred
• Experience with strategic alliances, university/research collaborations, standards bodies, or technology ecosystem partnerships is a plus
• Experience working in an R&D organization preferred
• Cross-border and global collaboration experience preferred

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Provide strategic legal counsel to global business teams on enterprise AI agents, model and agent platforms, strategic alliances, university collaborations, technology innovation labs, product development, M&A, complex transactions, and regulatory compliance
• Identify and manage legal issues arising through the CTOO development pipeline
• Act as liaison between CTOO and other corporate legal functions including litigation, AI governance, IP, ethics and compliance, data privacy, marketing, contracting, and government relations
• Maintain working knowledge of technology innovation laboratories, AI software platforms, ecosystem partnerships, and electronics manufacturing
• Proactively flag areas of legal and business risk and offer pragmatic mitigation strategies for fast-moving R&D, incubation, and commercialization efforts
• Serve as a trusted business advisor on key global business initiatives
