Senior Legal Counsel

Contextual Overview

Mammoet, a world leader in engineered heavy lifting and transport, is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its team in Schiedam, Netherlands. The role involves guiding the business through intricate international legal landscapes, high-value contract negotiations, and cross-border regulatory challenges within a full-time capacity (40 hours per week).

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Formal legal education or degree in Business Law or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in legal affairs within an EU/international commercial environment.
• Deep expertise in contract management and EU/international commercial law.
• Fluency in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Advise on complex local and EU/international legal matters ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate high-value contracts and agreements across multiple business units.
• Lead legal risk assessments and develop proactive strategies to mitigate exposure.
• Manage relationships with external law firms, oversee case handling and budgets, and represent Mammoet in negotiations.
• Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Project Management teams to deliver practical legal support.
• Support and mentor junior legal team members.
