Senior Legal Counsel at Neo Financial
Neo Financial, a rapidly scaling Canadian fintech company and #1 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 for 2023, 2024, and 2025, is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel to join its team in Calgary, Alberta. This full-time, mid-senior level role involves providing strategic legal advice across corporate, commercial, regulatory, employment, and privacy matters within a fast-paced technology environment.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (L.LB) or Juris Doctor (J.D.).
- Licensure: Member of, or eligible for membership in, the Law Society of Alberta.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in private practice or in-house roles.
- Practice Areas: Experience in banking/financial services, financial services regulatory, corporate/commercial, real estate financing, consumer protection, employment, and/or privacy law.
- Preference: Candidates with experience in banking, fintech, highly regulated sectors, or in-house legal teams.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Provide practical legal advice on corporate, commercial, regulatory, employment, and privacy matters.
- Structure, draft, negotiate, and review financing, partnership, and customer-facing agreements.
- Draft internal policies and guidelines to ensure legal compliance.
- Develop and maintain form agreements and contract management systems.
- Manage external legal counsel as required.
- Conduct legal research and provide timely advice to internal stakeholders.
