Senior Legal Counsel

Contextual Overview

NextStar Energy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Legal Counsel to join its on-site legal team in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The organization operates Canada’s first large-scale battery manufacturing facility focused on sustainable energy solutions.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• LL.B. or LL.M. Degree.
• Licensed to practice law in the Province of Ontario.
• 10+ years of experience as a practising lawyer in a law firm or as in-house counsel.
• Experience with and exposure to corporate law, compliance, labour & employment issues, and safety & environmental issues.
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of corporate and commercial laws, including corporate secretary and governance practices.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Advise and provide timely counsel on legal and compliance topics, including employment, labour, regulatory matters, litigation, health and safety, environment, and business contracts.
• Provide legal and compliance training to internal clients and the organization.
• Develop strategies and design corporate practices, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and general reports for executive management.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate company contracts and other legal documents.
• Communicate with outside counsel and ensure regular on-site attendance.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Base pay range: CA$140,000.00/yr - CA$175,000.00/yr, supplemented by competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and professional development opportunities. Mode: On-site.
