Commercial Legal Counsel

Contextual Overview

Powerfleet is seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel based in the United Kingdom to join its legal team. This role provides practical legal support across the business, focusing on commercial contracts, legal risk management, and regulatory compliance within the technology and SaaS sector.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Law degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Qualified and in good standing as a lawyer, solicitor, barrister, or equivalent legal professional in Canada or the United Kingdom.
• 4–6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial and contract law gained in private practice, in-house, or a combination of both.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and contract law in Canada and/or the UK with cross-border support capabilities.
• Practical experience advising on data privacy regulations such as POPIA, GDPR, PIPEDA, and US federal and state privacy laws.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage customer and vendor agreements, supplier contracts, NDAs, SLAs, licensing agreements, and partnerships.
• Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to cross-functional teams including Sales, Procurement, Finance, Product, and Operations.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and commercial risks in contractual arrangements.
• Advise on data privacy matters, review data processing agreements, and support regulatory compliance initiatives.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Base Salary: GBP £75,000 – £85,000, with eligibility for additional variable compensation.
