Assistant General Counsel – Sony Pictures Entertainment

Full‑time in‑house counsel role located in Culver City, CA, supporting Sony Pictures Television’s Consumer Platforms & Services and Networks divisions.

Key Eligibility

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active California State Bar membership or eligibility to register as in‑house counsel in California
• Ten or more years of relevant experience at a major law firm, studio, television network, streaming service, or other media/technology company (in‑house experience preferred)
• Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and advise senior executives

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Lead legal advice on product, advertising, technology, and platform initiatives
• Structure, draft, and negotiate complex agreements (content, distribution, advertising, technology)
• Provide product counseling throughout lifecycle, anticipating legal and regulatory issues
• Assess legal and business risk, exercise judgment, and deliver clear, business‑oriented advice
• Manage outside counsel and coordinate cross‑functional resolution of matters
• Monitor legal, regulatory, and industry developments affecting digital media and translate into guidance

Compensation

Base salary: $220,000–$265,000 (annual incentive and benefits may apply)
