EMEA Regulatory Counsel

Contextual Overview

Stripe is seeking an experienced EMEA Regulatory Counsel to be based in Dubai, UAE. This role involves providing strategic guidance on financial regulatory obligations across the EMEA region, with a specific focus on leading Stripe's regulatory work and expansion within the UAE. The successful candidate will report to the Head of EMEA Regulatory Legal in Dublin.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Minimum 6+ years of experience practicing as a qualified lawyer in the UAE.
• Specialized focus on payments and fintech regulation.
• Proven experience working with financial regulators in the UAE and the wider region.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and risk-assessment skills.
• Preferred: Fluency in Arabic and English; experience with crypto, money movement, and both UAE onshore/offshore regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory issues, focusing on the UAE market.
• Counsel Product Legal and Compliance teams on regulatory requirements for product development.
• Monitor financial regulatory developments to provide proactive guidance on trends and risks.
• Develop regulatory engagement strategies and manage advocacy regarding proposed laws and rules.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams to mitigate legal risks while supporting business goals.
