Legal Associate - Privacy

Contextual Overview

Unilever is recruiting for the position of Legal Associate - Privacy at its UniOps Centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. As part of the Unilever Legal Powerhouse and Global Privacy Team, the selected candidate will support and progressively lead privacy operations, privacy risk assessments (PRAs), and advisory activities across defined business areas.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Strong privacy domain expertise and practical understanding of digital tools, data flows, and technology solutions.
• Knowledge of standard privacy compliance frameworks, including PRAs, Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), and Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs).
• Understanding of the overlap between privacy and cyber risk management.
• Ability to negotiate standard privacy clauses following established playbooks.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Act as a primary point of contact for the Privacy Risk Assessment (PRA) process for supported regions, independently handling low-to-medium complexity queries.
• Provide strategic and operational advice to Local Privacy Advisers on DSARs, ROPAs, privacy notices, and incident management.
• Support standard privacy clause and contract negotiations adhering to organizational playbooks.
• Maintain and regularly review the master Local Privacy Adviser Contact List.
• Collaborate with technology, cyber, legal, and business stakeholders to identify and mitigate privacy risks.
• Contribute to the enhancement of operational processes, guidance documents, and privacy training design.
